How Do We Help?
Educate
Our after-school tuition service is focused on basic subjects, in order to provide a strong foundation. This allows children to get additional help in subjects they don’t understand, or simply have someone standing by to help with homework or go over class materials.
Mentor
Mentoring allows students to become excited about learning and their future. Talking to a third party about future plans can give a unique perspective to the student. Female to female interactions allows for more empathy and a special bond to be created.
Empower
Empowerment allows for the instillation of confidence at a young age, increasing the chance that they will pursue a higher education and work when they’re older. Volunteers lead by example, but also provide advice based on unique situations that the student may be in.
Should You Get Involved?
We look for volunteers who are passionate and want to make a positive difference in our world. People who are good with kids and love teaching will thrive most in this program. The program also helps volunteers learn new skills and build confidence when talking to people of all backgrounds. We only accept female volunteers, over the age of 14. We expect all our volunteers to be fluent in English and have a foundational understanding of academic subjects such as Maths, Science or English. All volunteers must be able to put in at least 2 hours a week but the scheduling is flexible at the convenience of volunteers and students.
How Can You Help?
Make an Account
First, click on ‘Get Involved’ below and fill out your details. A form will be sent to you asking for further details and information. We ask that only women above the age of 14 sign up. An email account will be created for you, which you will use to communicate with your student. We will find a student who we think you will work well with and pair you up.
Learn To Teach
Then, visit our secondary site, which contains all the resources you will need for teaching, including worksheets, handbooks and advice for specific situations. Read through our specially written instruction guide, so you are able to teach to the best of your ability. Recap your basics in academic subjects, so that you are ready to go.
Start Tutoring
Once you’ve completed all of the prior steps, you’re ready to start tutoring! Begin by using our scheduling software to find a time that is compatible for both you and your student. Once a time is set, log into your email and use the recommended video conferencing platform to teach.
